Claudea studied Design at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. After graduating she went on and lived in Italy for a while, before moving to the United Kingdom. She currently lives in London, where she works full time and spends the rest of her free time painting.
Most of Claudea’s paintings illustrate imaginary, decorative settings with a female character as a center figure that exudes a kind of contemplative stillness amidst inevitable change. The subject needs a moment while everything else never stops.
As she grew and moved through life, Claudea has found herself not quite at the same pace as the society’s timeline. Events seem to happen later for her than they do for everyone else and she has struggled to keep up. It has been mostly an inner struggle, how to feel like she belongs when the outer world was changing, at what seems to her, high speed. She has had to stop many times before moving on again.
Through her paintings, Claudea explores the inner journey of belonging to oneself. Whilst life experiences happen, she needs to find that center point just like her subjects and stop, if only for a moment.
Other works include: Intuitive abstract painting, portraits.
